Sleep Disorders
In sleep apnea, your breathing stops or gets very shallow while you are sleeping. Disorders of arousal, which include confusional arousals, sleepwalking (somnambulism), and sleep terrors. In some cases these events are triggered by other conditions such as sleep apnea, heartburn, or periodic limb movements during sleep. Almost everyone will be affected by insomnia at some point during life. They may, however, happen often enough to become so bothersome that medical attention is required.
In many cases, self help techniques, including improved sleep hygiene, relaxation and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), can alleviate insomnia and promote better health as well as better sleep. What you eat or drink in the hours and minutes before bed may make the difference between a restful slumber and a fitful night of tossing and turning. Because disorders of arousal are less common in older people, adults suffering from these disorders should seek evaluation. Chronic noise can cause high stress levels leading to many different health problems. A narrow airway gets in the way of smooth breathing and creates the sound of snoring.
Alright, let me describe what I experience in some of my episodes with sleep paralysis (SP). Lack of sleep might make you feel foggy and unable to concentrate, or just a lesser version of your normal self.
